The first workshop I conducted in China was the
World Health Organization Inter-regional Workshop on Research Methodologies
in Perinatal Care at the Beijing Maternity and Children's Hospital from
21-31 July 1986.
Middle Row, seated from left - Dr Chen Wen Jen (Director, BMCH), Dr Osborne
Viegas (Singapore - workshop coordinator), PRC MOH official, myself (course
faculty), Dr Richard Guidotti (WHO faculty from HQ Geneva), MOH official, Dr
Goon (WHO Rep in China), Dr Lief Bakketeig (course faculty from Norway).
Back row - tallest person standing in the middle - Dr Ahmad Ashour
(Director, Jeddah Maternity and Children's Hospital, Saudi Arabia) was one
of the course participants who subsequently invited me and Lief Bakketieg to
conduct the same course in his hospital in Jeddah. For the round-trip
from Singapore to Jeddah, my Saudi host gave me a first class ticket on
Saudia Airlines. |
