I visited
Siem Reap from 29 Dec 2011 to 1 Jan 2012.
These pictures show sunrise at the
famous Angkor Wat
The
majestic Angkor Wat at noon.
There were thousands of tourists from all over the world when I
visited Angkor Wat on 30 Dec 2011
Angkor
Thom, equally majestic.
The
Bayon Temple at Angkor Thom had deities lining the entrance (far
left). Had my first elephant ride here! The smiling face
of King Jayavarman VII has been dubbed as the "Mona Lisa" of South
East Asia!
Ta Prohm
Temple, aka the "Lara Croft" Temple as the Tomb Raider film,
starring Angeline Jolie, was shot there. The "tree-in-temple"
site was built by Jayavarman VII in honour of his mother.
Beng
Mealea ("Lotus Pond") Temple is another picturesque temple
about 40km from Siem Reap. Considered as one of Cambodia's
"best kept secret" for temples as it was only discovered in 1990.
The place is literally located in the middle of the jungle.
Trees not only grow around the temple but also on the temple walls
themselves.
Tonle Sap Lake is the largest
freshwater lake in SE Asia and is noted for its floating village and
"floating forest".
Kampong Phluk (the floating village
of the Tonle Sap) is every photographer's dream shooting location!
